Pre-Apprenticeship Programs - Manufacturing Industry

Georgetown partners with joint employer and labor groups (JATCs), individual employers, nonprofit, and community-based organizations to offer pre-apprenticeship programs. These programs are designed to prepare individuals for entry into apprenticeship programs by providing foundational skills, math instruction, technical skills training, job readiness instruction, safety training and certifications, and exposure to specific trades. Pre-apprentices earn college credits for completing their program and have access to resources including discounted transportation passes and emergency funding assistance. Programs typically run from several weeks to a few months, 3-5 days per week. Participants may receive compensation in the form of a daily stipend depending on the program. In many cases, tuition can be entirely covered by workforce funding or grants. Completion helps individuals meet entry requirements of apprenticeship programs and increases chances of success in formal training.
