Citywide Youth Advisory Council

About this opportunity

The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), non-profit partner to Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR), has established a youth-led Citywide Youth Advisory Council. The council is made up of 15 Seattle teens from all over the city who are chosen to represent the voice of their community, advise on ARC, SPR, and City initiatives, and enhance programming opportunities for youth. Youth council members represent Seattle City Council districts and their neighborhoods-at-large. Youth Advisory Council members have opportunities to work with key stakeholders such as the ARC Advisory Councils, ARC Board of Directors, SPR leadership, Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners, Seattle Park District Board, and the Deputy Mayor's Office. Members will advise key decision makers through surveys and focus groups, promote and participate in recreational activities, and attend three annual signature events (Big Day of Play, President's Meeting, Annual General Meeting).

• Commit to personal and professional growth and development
• Meet monthly with other youth council members
• Work with key stakeholders including ARC leadership, SPR, Parks Board, and city officials

Requirements

Must be a Seattle teen interested in making a positive impact on the city. Application window for 2026-2027 cohort is currently open.
