About this opportunity

The Culinary Arts Baking & Pastry Program is designed to put students in the shoes of a professional baker or pastry chef. Students produce baked goods for the Culinary Arts Training Grounds Café, Le Bistro Restaurant, and catering events for the local community. They gain hands-on experience building an extensive repertoire of pastries, breads, and desserts including pies, cakes, laminated pastries, and various breads. The program features a fully equipped bake shop with Hobart and KitchenAid mixers, dough sheeter, convection oven, proof box, and deck oven. Students work on real-life deadlines while developing communication and collaboration skills, and also learn the science of baking and mathematical calculations needed in professional kitchens. Students can earn high school credit, high school equivalency credit, dual college credit, and industry-recognized credentials.
