Youth Web Design Program

About this opportunity

Through the Youth Web Design program, Seattle high school students work directly with local small business owners to design modern websites. Students learn industry-standard skills including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and earn technical certification. The program covers web design, website creation, product photography, content writing, social media implementation, and marketing strategy. Participating youth work with certified trainers to produce professional websites tailored to each business's needs, gaining practical experience for their professional portfolios. Students also learn social media strategy, marketing skills, and project management. At program completion, students earn paid stipends and will receive Career and Technical Education (CTE) credits toward graduation requirements. The program supports Seattle's small businesses—particularly Black and immigrant-owned businesses—in establishing or improving their digital presence, while providing paid employment and skill-building opportunities for youth.

What you'll do

• Design and create professional websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Work with business owners to understand their unique website needs
• Take and edit product photographs
• Write and develop web content and copy
• Implement social media strategies and content
• Learn marketing and digital strategy skills
• Manage projects from conception to completion
• Earn technical certification in coding skills

Requirements

Program targets Seattle high school students. Particularly focused on serving youth from underrepresented communities.
