About this opportunity

The UW LEAH Teen and Parent Advisory Board seeks teens to advise adolescent healthcare providers across multiple fields including medicine, nutrition, social work, psychology and nursing. As a member, you will collaborate with healthcare providers, gain valuable leadership experience, earn community service hours, and educate health providers about the teen experience. The board will create and develop projects related to improving teen healthcare and discuss important topics such as mental health and stress, substance use and abuse, healthy lifestyles, sexual and reproductive health, confidentiality and your rights.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers across medicine, nutrition, social work, psychology and nursing
  • Gain valuable leadership experience and earn community service hours
  • Educate healthcare providers about teen perspectives and experiences
  • Create and develop projects related to improving teen healthcare
  • Discuss and address topics including mental health, substance use, healthy lifestyles, sexual and reproductive health, and teen rights

Requirements

Applicants must be willing to make at least a one-year commitment with opportunity to serve up to 2 additional years. Must have regular email and internet access. Must attend 5 meetings and participate in projects. Must adhere to video conferencing etiquette with camera on during meetings.
