About this opportunity

This youth volunteer program, coordinated through the Sri Sathya Sai Seattle Eastside Center, brings young people together to volunteer at Food Lifeline's warehouse on the second Saturday of each month. Volunteers participate in engaging tasks like sorting unusually shaped produce, carefully packing rice to exact weights, and organizing food donations. The program emphasizes hands-on service and reflection, where participants share their experiences and impact afterward. Beyond Food Lifeline, the group also participates in other service activities including assembling hygiene kits, visiting senior centers, and participating in events like Stamp Out Hunger. The program teaches young volunteers about the broader "chain of generosity" and helps them understand how their work connects to helping communities. Started in 2012 with 12 participants, the group has grown to 68 volunteers.
