About this opportunity

The AmeriCorps Crew Member positions run from January through December each year. In addition to a monthly stipend, AmeriCorps members can earn an AmeriCorps Education Award after completing the full program. Crew members work side-by-side in crews of 6-7 AmeriCorps and international participants implementing environmental restoration projects around Seattle and western Washington. You'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects throughout the Puget Sound region, which may include invasive plant removal (both manual and through herbicide application), native plant installation, trail construction and maintenance, and stream and salmon habitat restoration. Workdays are from 7:30 am – 5:00 pm, including some weekends. The program devotes time to professional and personal growth through workshops and trainings, as well as two or three multi-day, off-site retreats.

What you'll do

• Implement environmental restoration projects including invasive plant removal
• Install native plants and maintain trails
• Participate in stream and salmon habitat restoration
• Work in crews of 6-7 people camping and learning together
• Attend professional development workshops on botany, ecology, and environmental restoration
• Participate in multi-day off-site retreats focused on leadership development
