About this opportunity

Fire Service Technology is a program designed for students interested in becoming structural or wildland firefighters. Students develop self-confidence, leadership, and teamwork skills while learning firefighting techniques. The program follows the I.F.S.T.A. (International Fire Service Training Association) Essentials Curriculum and combines classroom learning with outdoor practical activities in various weather conditions. Students can earn high school credits, equivalency credits in PE and Science, up to 11 college credits through EvCC Tech Prep program (with a grade B or better), and industry-recognized credentials. The program is physically demanding and requires good communication skills, positive attitude, and willingness to work hard. Students work both in a classroom setting and outside, completing hands-on manipulative activities.

Requirements

Good communication skills, positive attitude, and ability to work hard are essential. Program is physically demanding. Students can earn PE equivalency credit and Science equivalency credit from most sending schools.
