Habitat Restoration Volunteer Programs

About this opportunity

Save The Bay offers restoration volunteer programs where community members can help preserve and restore thousands of acres of wetlands across San Francisco Bay. Volunteers participate in hands-on work such as transplanting native seedlings and removing harmful invasive species. All restoration volunteer programs include certified Project Leaders trained in First Aid/CPR/AED, introduction to Bay history and ecology, gloves and tools, restoration project direction, and sunscreen and water. Programs are suitable for families with children and can be modified for different ages and abilities. Each program counts for three hours of community service.

What you'll do

• Transplant native seedlings to restore wetland habitats
• Remove harmful invasive species from restoration sites
• Learn about San Francisco Bay history and ecology
• Receive hands-on tool safety instruction and restoration project direction
• Work alongside certified Project Leaders trained in First Aid/CPR/AED

Requirements

Open to community members of all ages and abilities. Children welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Programs count toward school or court-mandated community service hours.
