About this opportunity

Health Science 1 provides students with a broad overview of the healthcare industry, including an introduction to medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, infection control, safety practices, and basic patient care concepts. Students explore healthcare careers with emphasis on nursing and patient-centered care. Through interactive classroom instruction, skills-based activities, and simulated healthcare scenarios, students develop essential workplace competencies such as communication, teamwork, professionalism, and ethical decision-making. The program emphasizes responsibility, compassion, and accountability—core traits required in nursing and healthcare professions. Successful completion prepares students for enrollment in the 12th grade Pre-Nursing Program (CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant) for hands-on clinical training and certification preparation. Students earn 4.5 high school credits including 0.5 English, 1.0 Health, and 2.0 Science credits.
